In my document I have bunch of paragraphs and each starts with the name (two or three words). Character style is applied to each name. Now, I want to add paragraph mark after each name so every name is in its own paragraph. Of course, I can do it manually, hitting enter after each name, but I was wondering if there is more efficient way through Find/Change or maybe GREP.
Try this on a copy to be sure, but I think Find ^.+ and set the Find format to the character style, then Change to $0\r You might also want to Set the change Format to None Character Style and a new Paragraph Style that matches the formatting applied by the character style.
This will likely leave you with a space at the end of the paragraph or the beginning of the next. The location will depend on if the style is applied to the space. If it's at the end of the paragraph, you can use Find Find ^(.+)(\s) and change to $1\r
If it's at the start of the next paragraph I think you'll need a second query, Find ^/s (leave the find format blank or set it to the paragraph style originally assigned) and leave the change field blank.
Simple and elegant.
Thanks a lot, Peter!
