This is not obsolete. You can still use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S for PC or Cmd+Shift+Alt+S Mac.
From the menu go to: File>Export>Save for web (legacy)
Yes I know that I can still use it, but the info 'Legacy' suggests that there is a new/better way to export a jpg/PNG.
And I don't think that the new options 'Quick export' are an improvement
The explanation of this change are here: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2015/06/save-for-web-in-photoshop-cc-2015.html
The new Export does not have all the same features as Save for Web, but, we will continue to improve upon Export and hope that it will eventually meet the needs of those using Save for Web. If you have specific features that you would like to see supported in Export that it does not have, we'd love to hear it.
I use the Save for web options a lot (many times a day for inter/intranet).
I like the fact that I have 2 views. f.e. a few of a JPEG and a view of a PNG.
2 views is enough for me.
I like the fact that that I can give in the size of the export picture in pixels.
I don't need .gif
But I 'll miss the option when Adobe will decided to remove this option.
I cannot imagine that we would remove Save for Web without a similar "2-up" view in the Export dialog although there isn't one, at this time. Thanks for your feedback. We'll likely keep Save for Web around for some time.
Save for Web automatically replaces spaces with hyphens in the filename which I find useful for web graphics. Export just leaves the spaces. I hope you can add this functionality to Export.
Also, Export does not honor the JPG quality settings entered in preferences but reverts to 100% every time.
