I'm running flash server 5.
I have a flash project set up with an flv 2.5 component on the main screen.
i have content inside folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 5\applications\media
according to this guide

part of my question got cut off somehow. anyways
when i pulish the file it won't connect to the server. but the unpublished test "ctrl + enter" connects to the server and displays the content perfectly. Furthermore flash pro is connected to the server the entire time even before the test. How do I get the published .swf to connect?
Features that in some way involve network security need to be run from a server. If you open the HTML file locally, you're not on a server. When you control-enter, Flash Pro sets up a temporary local server, which is why it works.
So, I believe your files should work ok if you put them online somewhere.
