I've been searching for a way to setup keyboard triggers in Adobe Character to change expression... how is this done? Help is much appreciated!
Hi Mike... If it's a single layer/group that you want to show, just add keyboard trigger to its name either in the artwork file or Puppet panel. For example, "Left Blink (b!)" will show that blink layer and hide its sibling layers when the B key is pressed.
If you're wanting to trigger a sequence of images, place those images in a group, assign a key trigger (if preferred) to the group's name, then apply the Cycle Layers behavior with appropriate settings to trigger when the key is pressed.
See the Character Animator Examples project's puppets for examples of how both are set up. There are also some tutorial videos (Character Animator Tutorials) that show how Cycle Layers is used for triggering actions for stop motion that might be helpful, too.
Hope this info helps.
Now that Preview 3 is out, there's an easier way to set up keyboard triggers: just select the layer in the Puppet panel and use the Trigger section in the properties panel.
