I've just noticed that when Lightroom CC 2015 is importing my video files it writes the capture time and date as the date when they were imported, rather than the actual date when they were taken. As a result they are out of order in my library and the information appears to be lost.
I see the date modified value of the file in the finder appears to be correct.
I'm using a Sony A6000, recording in AVCHD on a Mac.
Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated!
I just found that I can select all the videos after import and by clicking the icon to the right of "Capture Time" change all the dates to "File's Creation Date" so that at least fixes the problem without being too painful.
Glad you discovered the workaround. Note that changes to the video metadata will not be written back to the video file.
LR's support for video is highly incomplete, and it often doesn't read capture date from the video metadata. Please add your vote and opinion to this topic in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: Metadata applied to videos in Lightroom isn't available in other applications
