cannot authorize my computer for ADE

    Helend Level 1

I had to delete my Microsoft Account and create a new one with same ID and password.  Now can't authorize my computer with ADE.  I get this error message:  you can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile devices.  I tried the Ctrl+Shift+D method and NOTHING happens.  So how can I authorize my computer. ???  I also lost all the books that were on my ADE file when I deleted the Microsoft account.

I'm wanting an answer to the same question and am appalled to see their 'team of experts' hasn't answered you!

            Windows:

                Close all applications.

                Choose Start > Run.

In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.

In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

                Select the Adept key.

                Choose File > Export.

In the Export Registry File dialog box, select Selected Branch under Export Range. Enter a name and location for the backup registry key, and then click Save.

Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.

In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.

                Close the Registry Editor.

Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

            Macintosh:

                quit Adobe Digital Editions.

Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

If you are using 10.7, see https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html

Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

OMG Nanaky -  you are amazing and a life-saver!!

Your solution has worked perfectly. I had spent hours today trying to get around this problem.

I had deleted and re-installed Digital Editions but couldn't authorise it because it was tied to an old email that I no longer use and it kept asking for my old email password which I have long forgotten. I couldn't download any eBooks and kept getting error messages and was close to tears.

I contacted Adobe support to re-set my password but they were really dismissive and unhelpful - so frustrating !

Now I can download eBooks and get reading.

Thanks for making my day !!
