I am trying to import information from an Excel spreadsheet to populate a fillable PDF document. I know that most Adobe versions want the Excel file converted to a Tab Delimited Text File. For whatever reason, the adobe document that I am using will only allow my to select XML, XDP, or XFD files. What do I need to do to get my document to allow me to import text files?
Nothing. It's a form that was created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer, which
has a very different format than regular Acrobat forms and that can only
accept data in those formats.
If you want to be able to import a CSV or text file into it you'll need to
convert it into an Acrobat form, which pretty much means re-doing all the
form fields in it.

LiveCycle forms can connect to SQL databases and pull data from such databases.
The XFDF file type can be exported and if you can follow the formatting you should be able to use a text editor to fill in the data as needed.
