I used to be able to drag while placing a text file, and hit the right arrow key before releasing the mouse in order to create multiple columns in one text frame. That no longer seems to work in InDesign CC 2015.
Is this a bug or did Adobe change the way this works?
I just tested in CC 2015 and in CS6.
What works is that when you are dragging out an empty text frame with the Type tool, pressing the right arrow key will divide the frame into two columns. (This also works when creating other kind of frames.)
In both versions of InDesign, when placing a text or Word file, that shortcut doesn't work.
So you have to create the two-column text frame first, then place text into the frame.
Thanks, Steve. I thought that placing text would work the same way as placing multiple graphics. So much for consistency.
