I have older InDesign files that have turned into "Unix Executable Files" and can't seem to open them.

I've added the suffixes ."indd" and ".idml" (which changed the files, both name and icon) and still, InDesign won't open them. I receive an error message that states "Cannot open the file "name of file.idml". InDeign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application." Now I can open .idml files that have been created in InDesign so I'm pretty sure it's not a missing plug-in and the file is definitely not open in another application.

Any ideas? I don't feel like flowing 90 pages today or the other 100+ files floating around on our archive.

I'm running InDesign CC 2015 on a Mac Pro 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 running Yosemite 10.10.4.

      Thanks!
