    FileXtra4

    razta101 Level 1
      Hello again,
      Can any one tell me why this wont work? Im using the FileXtra4 Xtra to open a PDF file from a CD, however when I click on the cast member it just opens adobe acrobat reader with the error "File not found", the file is in "DRIVE/PDF/"

      Heres the code im using:

      on mouseup
      fxObj = xtra("FileXtra4").new()
      put fxObj.fx_FileOpenDocument("/PDF/banningorders.pdf")
      fxObj = 0

      end

      Any help appretiated,
      Thank you,
      Ryan

          I don't think FileXtra4 makes any assumptions about path so if there are
          other directories above \PDF then you'll have to specify them either with
          the moviePath or with the moviePath and some other manipulation of path
          structure to get to the \PDF directory.

            And Craig implicitly implied you should be using the correct folder
            delimiter which in the case of Windows is '\' not '/' as in what you posted.

              Thank you for your replys, Im very new to Lingo and cant seem to figure it out.

              Heres the code I asumed would work however doesnt:

              on mouseup
              open the moviePath & "\PDF"
              fxObj = xtra("FileXtra4").new()
              put fxObj.fx_FileOpenDocument("factsheet.pdf")
              fxObj = 0

              end

              Any ideas?

                this should work:

                on mouseup
                fxObj = xtra("FileXtra4").new()
                put fxObj.fx_FileOpenDocument(the moviePath & "PDF\factsheet.pdf")
                fxObj = 0
                end

                  The problem with the open command is that it wants the old DOS format for
                  paths. If you have something like "My Documents" in your path, it really
                  wants to see "mydocume~" or something like that. MM has never updated this
                  archaic command. I leiu of FileXtra4, BuddyAPI etc, they should have
                  removed "open" from the list of Lingo a long time ago, just like the "wait
                  for..." part of the tempo channel.
