Using InDesign CS5.5 and Mac Yosemite 10.10.4, when I try to package a 28 page document with a number of imported pictures in it, I get@ the message "cannot copy necessary linked files." I have been working with this document for sometime now and just startedhaving this problem. I tried creating a new document and it worked fine for a while, but then it started giving me the same message. Does anyone know what I can do about this? Is it Yosemite problem? I recently updated to Yosemite several months ago, but the problem has not occurred until yesterday. I have been creating documents similar to this one for years with no problem.
There are a couple of possibilities for this:
1. There are links with filenames that contain illegal characters - "/" is a common one.
2. The destination is either locked or you do not have sufficient permissions to write to it (maybe the destination folder was created by another user).
The new document that you created - have you added new links to it, or are the links the same as when it was packaging properly?
Usually caused by an "illegal" character in a file or folder name, or a lack of permission on the destination folder.
