It's actually all of them that i have tried. (Indesign, illustrator, and photoshop). Do you think it's something with my keyboard settings? PErhaps another app is using the space bar for short cut that won't allow CS to use it. I have tried fiddling with that, but no luck yet.
You probably have a third party utility or extension that's interfering.
These days browser extensions are often the culprit. Try restarting your computer and opening InDesign first. Then see if it's still happening. If it works OK, then watch carefully when you open your other programs to determine which one is causing the problem.
Hi Steve, Thanks for your input. I restarted and tried indesign first before any other apps were open and it still didn't let me use the space bar for the hand short cut or the space bar + ⌘ to zoom in.
Do you think it could be something in my system preferences? It seems like the space bar may be reserved for a separate app and that is why adobe programs cant use it. Because my other CS shortcuts are available, just not the space bar.

I shut down all apps and turned off all keyboards prefs and nothing worked. I followed every thread I could find. Called Apple, called Adobe. NUTHIN. I finally realized I had installed Webroot security and when I checked it, it has Secure Keyboard Entrynabled by default. When I turned this off I have my modifiers back.
Hope this helps others!
