Those images are either still on the SD card, if you didn't delete them or format the card in the camera yet, or on your iPad where you copied them to.
For the Sync to work you first need to create a collection on either your computer or LR Mobile on your iPad. As the iPad is showing You have No Collections. Just having image on the iPad storage device doesn't mean they are in a LR Mobile collection. Open the Gallery or Film strip or whatever Apple calls the app to View images that are on the iPad storage space. Do you see those images?
I already had collections on my iPad that i added using the camera roll on the iPad. I had about 4 collections there on my iPad. But after i used lightroom on desktop and turned on sync to my light room mobile it erased all the collections that i had on my iPad. My question now is how do i get those collections back. I still have those pictures on my camera roll by they are the original unedited files. I spent weeks editing those files on light room and now they are gone
Did you previously connect your Adobe-id against a different Lr Catalog. You can only have 1 catalog connected against your Adobe-id and normally Lr Desktop comes up with a caution alert that a catalog swith will delete all data. - Guido
