See the system requirements:
After Effects CS5.5 is not supported on Windows 10. That version of the application was created several years before Windows 10 existed.
If you want to stay with that version of After Effects, you could consider using Windows 7 - as long as it's the 64-bit version of Windows 7, your system will recognize the RAM like you wanted.
Alternatively, you can upgrade your Adobe software. You are several versions behind and are missing some great new features (like caching for faster playback, Copy with Relative Property Links, Refine Matte, Key Cleaner, etc.). If you subscribe to the Creative Cloud, you can use any version of AE you want - CS6, CC, CC 2014, or CC 2015!
I had the 64 bit home edition of windows 7 but it would only use 16 gig of the ram I had installed so hence the reason I went with windows 10 !
Does the Pro version of windows 7 use 64 gig of Ram??
Well have downloaded a trial of After effects CC 2015
But I am now having fun and games with Color Finesse 3 , I can apply the effect make some adjustments but if I leave it for a few minutes and try and come back to it , it will lock up and not respond!
The only way I can get around it is to clear/delete the effect and re apply the effect if I need to tweak it! so annoying!
Which version of Color Finesse? (You can click CF's About button and it will display the version number in the lower-right corner.)
There was an issue like you describe in earlier versions (Color Finesse was being tagged as using to much battery power so Win 8.1 and 10 would shut it down) but that should be fixed in the version included with CC 2015.
Hi Bob it's Color Finesse 3 LE version 3.0.12(304)
