I work in 2D and sometime 3D animation in after effects for a living, and we do simple animation. I have animated a clock like 400 million times and its getting old, I am wondering if there is a simple way to reduce project, while having the illustrator files attached and located so I can just drop in the after effects project of a already animated clock. Is there a good way to do this? We just tried and it keeps asking for illustrator file locations.
Hopefully my question is somewhat clear
This will take 2 steps: first, make a copy of the project file (for safety) and highlight ONLY the comps youu need for the clock. Use the Reduce Project command. You now have only the necessary footage in the project. Next, use the Consolidate Footage command -- this will allow you to put copies of the comp and the footage in a specified file folder.
You're done. Unless you're on AE CC 2015 -- it has been known to wig out over such commands. If you are, do this in AE CC 2014 or AE 2012.
Awesome, appreciate the reply, I will give it a shot.
