Only a few people are reporting problems with W10 mainly concerning GPU drivers or permissions.

If using an AMD card a temporary roll-back workaround is suggested until AMD provides updates – see link and FAQ.

If you can reach the menu before LR freezes turn off GPU acceleration by going to:

          Edit >> Preferences >> Performance

Then uncheck the box to disable use of the graphics card.

If LR crashes before you get to the menu you can manually disable this preference using a text editor as follows:

Click the Windows start button and type this string and hit return.

          %appdata%\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs

Highlight the file Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs and choose open with and navigate to Notepad on your computer. When the file opens in notepad scroll down to near the bottom of all the text.

Change the following line: useAutoBahn = true to the following useAutoBahn = false

Save and close the file Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs (use save not save as – you need to overwrite the existing file)

          Launch Lightroom again.
