How what was done? There's just so much going on in that video.
I'm referring to the echo-style effect, with the multiple surfers etc, the central part to the sequence.
There are a number of different echo shots each with different things going on there. It's not just one effect done one way. Mostly lots of rotoscoping and/or keying and some motion tracking. Different shots would require different techniques, but all of them would take lots and lots of work.
Thanks for the response. I certainly wouldn't expect the work to be a one button-push effect. Perhaps I should reword my post to say something like 'This is great work, there's elements in there I can figure how were done, perhaps someone may have some ideas how certain parts were created, or maybe has some insights'.
For example: I think at 0:58" he roto'd/keyed the surfer, and was possibly lucky enough to have the blue sky to key from, including the waves, or at least partially, and then he had staggered layers in both time and z-space of the matted footage and added some DoF effects.
But what about 01:15"? Any thought's on that? Keying/roto as before and... Nodes/Particular?
