I have CS5, and recently upgraded my mac to yosemite. All other programs work, but InDesign fails to open. No specific error message, just "failed unexpectedly". I tried resetting preferences, and opening without plug-ins, but neither worked. Any advice for the broke college kid?
Migration of the program never works with InDesign, an in-place upgrades of the OS are a gamble. Uninstalling, running the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstalling is usually the best option, but you can try doing just ID first (the cleaner tool will remove the entire suite).
If you had asked before the Yosemite upgrade I would have told you not to do it. You can try Peter’s suggestions but CS5 is unsupported under Yosemite.
It may or may not work, but you are, unfortunately, on your own with this combination.
Ok, thank you!
