One of my favorite method to animate objects via script is the Tween class. The only drawback is that it requires AS 2.0 and at least flash player v7. If you want to see the help files: Open the Help panel, select the Components book and search for Tween.
Here is an example of how it's used below. It's a very powerful class and very easy to use. It comes with events for start, change and finish.
doesn't seem to work. i put it on the time line and renamed the MC and nothing happens
your stage can't be 6000 pixels wide so how is it that you want to move that movieclip 6000 pixels to the left?
6000 pixels? the stage is 752 x 284. I want the movie clip to move from right to left so that is whats 6000+ pixels
your stage is 752 pixels width and that's why you want to move _root.box 6000 pixels to the left??? that doesn't make sense.
you're not multiplying 752 x 284, are you?
ok everyones confusing everyone else.
My stage is 752 x 284
my movie clip is 8 images stacked side by side and put into 1 movie clip which spans 7512.4 px. What I am doing is starting at 1 side of the clip and every 10 secs or so the MC needs to shift 752px to the left and ease into place. this happens as many times as there are images and then loops back to the start.
I am also looking for roll overs to do this as well when a user interacts with them. so the main movie is automated unless interacted with. also a highlighted number of the slide to pop up when the frame is static. any ideas on how to combine these elements?
doesn't seem to work. The trace just gives the responce
4336.65 3584.65 -1679.35
Over and over again. I named the clip box and tried the script on the timeline as well as the MC itself and no go. No motion only #'s
you need a movieclip on your _root timeline with instance name box. if you think you have such an object and it's _x property is not affected by that code, post a link to your fla.
