For whatever reason, my Nikon D7200 is producing filenames with a leading underscore ("_DSC0001.nef"). No problem. What I am trying to do is rename the files on import. I have set up a template to do the following:
Instead of getting "HJRW_20150907_DSC0001.NEF" I am getting "HJRW_20150907_DSC0001-2.NEF"
I have removed the files from Lightroom and reimported as COPY or as MOVE and get the same thing. How do I eliminate the suffix from the file name that Lightroom is adding?
This happens because a file already exists in your operating system with this name in the destination folder.
Thanks. I had thought that but cannot find it. The file in the OS in that folder is "_DSC0001.NEF" After import into Lightroom, there is the original file (if I COPY) plus HJRW_20150907_DSC0001-2.NEF.
Found them. I store my images on "Drive E" and there were no similarly named files there. However, I noted that the default location to import photos with COPY or MOVE was "Drive C My Pictures." They were there. When I deleted them from My Pictures on Drive C, the import went as expected.
