I hope someone can be helpful, I have been working on a indesign document for 5 hours ( I know I forgot to save it ). At the end I go and save it, i overwrite it, it was an .idml press save, after few seconds a window pop up saying that illustrator has close.
I go in the document folder the document name is there, and the last date modified is the time I saved it, but it's just 1kb instead of more than 300kb that it was before! when I press it this message appear : Cannot open the file "....hdml" Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application.
The file was originally created with cc then exported to .hdml by a collegue so that I could use it in my computer with the s6 version. I am not an expert of indesign so please tell what happened and if I can rescue the file.
It would be vey appreciated
With only a 1kb size it sounds like the file is damaged beyond recovery.
oh no! I imagined that, but i really don't want to start all over, anyway I can recover it?
I don't think so. See if it shows in the File > Open Recent... list and will open. You might be looking at the wrong file. And you should be saving as .indd, not .idml, when you open the file your colleague sent. If you managed to destroy the .idml file, you'll have to ask to have it re-sent. When you get it, open it, File > Save AS and create a new .indd file before you do any editing.
