If you know the location of your old catalog you can open it directly from Lightroom. Please follow the below steps:
- Open Lightroom > click on File> click on Open Catalog
- Select your old Lightroom .lrcat file to launch it in Lightroom.
Lightroom will ask you to upgrade your catalog as well.
Once you upgrade it, the new, updated catalog contains all of the metadata associated the previous catalog and photos.
Please let us know if it helps.
Thanks for the help. Sadly this advice did no good as my catalogues
appear to have disappeared.

Use your operating system's search feature to find all files on all hard disks whose name ends with .LRCAT
Then open each one of them by double-clicking on them until you find the catalog(s) you want.
