Exactly what actions in Lightroom 5 result in this freeze?
Is it just Lightroom that freezes, or does the entire computer freeze?
just Lightroom. It happens when I'm editing in the develop module. Usually when moving from one flagged photo to the next.
Please follow the steps to reset Lightroom preferences of Lightroom.
> Quit Lightroom
> Open Finder
> Click on Go > Go To Folder
> Type in ~/Library/Preferences or Navigate to /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences
> Rename com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
> Relaunch Lightroom and check for the issue
tthanks! Just stepped out but will try that when I get home.
For more info... LR 4 still exists on my computer I think from before I upgraded. Please tell me it's not going to revert to the catalogue I had back then.
Your catalog from before the reset of the Preference File is still on your hard disk and you will not lose it (unless you choose to delete it, which I assume you're not going to do).
So, what you need to do is use your operating system's search feature to find all files whose name ends with LRCAT. Once you find them, you can double-click on each one of them to open them. Probably, you want the one with the most recent date.
You can either upgrade your Lightroom 4 catalog or can find the old Lightroom 5 catalog you were working on by clicking on choose different catalog.
The default Lightroom catalog is stored:
Thank-you!! I guess my last back-up of the catalogue was yesterday afternoon so I lost an afternoon of editing but that's not so bad.
Of course I have my files backed up on a separate hard drive and through an online storage company so I was never in risk of losing actual files. But I so don't have time for recovering and importing right now!
All that and LR5 is still freezing.
