Please let us know if this helps.
no such luck. the folder contains both Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs & Lightroom 6 startup Preferences.agprefs. (there is also a Lightroom 4 Preferences.agprefs.) i first renamed Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs & tried. the app hung at the splash screen. then i deleted the new Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs & renamed Lightroom 6 startup Preferences.agprefs. with both renamed, the app got further -- with an image preview & buttons visible, but inaccessible behind the splash screen. i haven't tried removing version 4 preferences. i don't want to go too far & run into further trouble. do you think that should go, too? what do i try next?
It seems the display adaptor is not working properly.
Please follow the troubleshooting steps provided in the below link.
Hope this helps.
The link gives me "sorry this page is not available". but based on your display adapter suggestion, I checked and found my graphics chip had an update ready, so I did that. LR still hung, so I tried to find the help page & ran across a LR update, which although appeared to be to be geared toward RAW file inclusions, seemed worth a try. Sure enough, after updating LR, I now have a functioning app. May it stay that way! thanks! charlotte mann
