Why doesn't Indesign warn you when it has failed to collect some images for packaging?

Using mac os x maverick, I have selected package in InDesign to send a collected document to a client. The images have been stored on various drives. When InDesign has packaged the document it has not collected over half the images. It has not come up with any warnings and I only realised by reopening to check the document.

I think it is because some of these images have been copied from a pc to a mac and it seems to be a permissions issue. Surely InDesign should give out a warning though? Very dangerous!
