Is there a way to increase the allowed character count for packaged folder names? In the case of some of my documents, really pertinent information HAS to be in the file name so coworkers can search easily. INDD's repeatedly told me to "shorten file names" during packaging, which I can't afford to do...
My initial search in preferences didn't yield anything compelling.
Thoughts!? Thank you!
I think the folder and file name limit is an OS limitation—should be 256 on Mac and PC. Maybe you should consider using the file info for descriptions and keywords. Then you can use Bridge for metadata searches. So in this ID file's File Info I give it a description, I don't think there's a character limit:
And in Bridge I search for Description and I could add keywords:
You can probably get around this by choosing a different location (like the desktop) to put the package folder so the total path length is shorter. Once packaged, you can move it anywhere you like.
