That has happened to me several times with different versions.
When this happens to me, the following allowed me to get rid of the unwanted content in the Elements Organizer
1. File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager, and then in the Catalog Manager use its Repair and Optimize options. Then, go back to the Elements Organizer workspace, and try to delete the files that you do not want.
2. Worse case, use the Catalog Manager New to create a new catalog.
Please let us first determine if the catalog Repair and/or Optimize will resolve the issue.
Thank you for your prompt answer. You certainly have to wait for an answer from me for a long time.I have now used almost 2 hours to find the page where I can answer you. For me it is the first time that I went to a forum and it's very hard for me. I am already 72 years old and do not speak English (I am German). The repair and optimize the catalog has unfortunately brought nothing. To be honest I'm afraid to create a new catalog. Could you say me what I can do?
Thank you so much
If you create a new catalog, you do not have to delete the old. The new one will be the "current" catalog. And, the old will remain not seen as the not current catalog. But, the new catalog will be empty. You will have to add back what you want in it.
Before we start with the details of creating a new catalog, approximately how many images do you have in that current Elements Organizer catalog, and how many of them will not delete?
Add On...you are doing well with your posting of your question and with your replies.
I have 7 images which I can not delete.
Thank you for the reply.
If you have only 7 images of a lot of images in the Elements Organizer, it might be better to ignore them. However, I will post details of creating a new catalog as your current catalog and putting the present catalog on non current status.
Something else for you to do, if you have not done it before.....have you updated the Elements Organizer 12 to 12.1 using the Help Menu/Updates? If not, please do that before creating a new catalog. Let us see if the Elements Organizer 12.1 Update might solve the problem where certain images will not delete from your Elements Organizer current catalog.
I will be back with details of creating a new Elements Organizer catalog within the next few hours.
To be continued
I have version 12.1. I will creating a new Elements Organizer catalog with your help. I am waiting of your instructions in the next hours. For today I will close our conversation because it is very late. After creation the new catalog according your instruction i will inform you if the creation of the new catalog was succsessful. Should I have problems to give you an answer I want to thank you for your help and understanding.
Viele Grüße aus Deutschland.
Elements Organizer 12/12.1
File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager
In my Elements Organizer 12/12.1, I have one catalog, and its name is Special Troubleshooting, My Email Address, and the word Current.
This is what you will see at this beginning stage. I removed by actual email address for this screenshot demonstration.
The program decides when and if to add an email address and the word Current to the catalog name. Nothing for you to do in that regard.
Next you are going to press the New button at the top right in the Catalog Manager dialog.
When you do, you will get a pop up message telling you that you cannot continue until you close the
Premiere Elements Editor. So, you click OK to that pop up message, close Premiere Elements Editor,
and then go back to the Catalog Manager, and press New again. Now you will get a small dialog where you name your
new catalog. All you do is supply the name. Do not type in any email address in the "Enter a name for the new catalog" dialog.
There are free music files on the hard drive that the Elements Organizer will include in the new catalog if you put a check
mark next to "Import free music into this catalog". Here I gave the name Gernot Gall Catalog 12, left the music option without
a check mark, and clicked OK.
Next the Elements Organizer opened to its workspace in the new empty catalog. You can check what it did by going back to File Menu/
Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager and viewing what is now in the Catalog Manager
The Gernet Gall Catalog 12 (Current) is the current catalog. The previous catalog is still there but not current.
You can click on it and hit open to make it the current catalog again.
Cancel out of the Catalog Manager, and you are back in your new empty current catalog ready to add new files if you want to.
Adobe describes this process in its Adobe document found Elements Organizer Help | Creating and editing catalogs
The one thing to consider. Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 are standalone programs, each coming with Elements Organizer 12.
When they are on the same computer, they share the same Elements Organizer 12 catalog.
Please consider. If you have any questions before you start the process, please stop and asked.
Thank you again for considering the suggestions.
