You're going to have to give us a lot more detail...
What version of InDesign? OS? What printer?
What is the page size in Document Setup? What is the size of the paper loaded into the printer? Does the printer driver control the folding and stapling, and where do you set that?
It is Adobe InDesign CS5. My OS is 10.10.5. The printer is a Kyocera CS 5550ci. The page size is Letter in the Document Setup and in the printer set up. The print driver should control the stapling and printing but before we got this printer it would always do that through the Print Booklet option in InDesign. It can be edited through InDesign in the Print Booklet > Print Settings > Printer > Booklet/Folding.
If the document setup is letter, and you are using Print Booklet, then ID will be sending pages to the printer as 11 x 17 spreads. It may be that the print driver is not compatible with Print Booklet and automatic folding and stapling. You might have better luck if you export a regular PDF, then print through Acrobat or Reader.
