    Photoshop News Forums

    Level 7
I know this is the wrong place, but does anyone know how to get into the
Photoshop and Illustrator forums? I subscribed to them in Outlook Express,
but I seem to need a password or login as every post comes back with an
      error...

Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject 'Re: Digital... who
needs it?', Account: 'adobeforums.com', Server: 'adobeforums.com', Protocol:
NNTP, Server Response: '480 authorization required for this command', Port:
      119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 480, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9

No problem with the Macromedia forums, but adobe is giving me fits...

Anyone using those forums if you could give me a clue? (a link, tutorial,
      instructions?)

      Thanks

I'm not visiting them anymore but as long as I remember, you could
subscribe to them via Web interface. During this stage, your name and
password are remembered by forum software. After that, you may access them
via both http and nntp, using the same name\password.

Point your newsreader (in your case Outlook Express) to adobeforums.com and get
the groupslist. Works fine for me.

Yep, done that. Got a huge long list. Selected 4 I am interested in , they
appear on my folders pane, I can read all of the posts, refresh, etc. But I
get the following error every time I try and post a question or a reply to
              any of them:

Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject 'Re: Backlight',
Account: 'adobeforums.com', Server: 'adobeforums.com', Protocol: NNTP,
Server Response: '440 posting not allowed - no access to create a new
discussion topic', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 440, Error
              Number: 0x800CCCA9

I have the forums.macromendia.com and forums.projectseven.com and can
interact flwlessly with any of them. Not so adobeforums.com

It should work fine but doesn't.

              Stumped.

Weird. Perhaps you should post in a OE group?
                Or try another newsreader?

                I use MesNews ( http://www.mesnews.net/gb/index.php ) , but there are numerous
                other readers out there.

                Good luck.

I hd forgotten, it is a long time ago, but I think you need a username and a
password. Enter that into OE and try again.

                  Good luck.

Yep... that's what it looks like, but I've tried all the usernames and
passwords that I use to log into my Adobe and Macromedia accounts (they work
there) but something is still awry...

                    Strange...

Weird. Perhaps something has gone wrong with the Adobe/MM merger. (My MM
registrations have disappeared). Have you tried registering as a new user on
                      the Adobe forums?

I believe you have to enter the email address specified in your profile on
adobeforums.com. Log in to adobeforums.com, click on Preferences and you'll
see an option that says "Your email address in NNTP messages:" Choose your
preference and enter that as your username in Outlook Express.
