Adobe has not given us a definitive release date for the next version of
Director, apart from the fact that they say it will be out in the 1st
half of 2007. So, it may be anywhere from 1-7 months before it is released.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no Adobe employees who monitor
this forum, so you will most likely get a much more informed answer to
your question by addressing it directly to Adobe:
Mike, yes thanks.
I was wondering what their "I just bought an upgrade!" policy is, when a new version is released.

I am wondering the same exact thing. I want to upgrade but I am not
going to upgrade twice! Adobe needs to be more honest and open with its
customer base or they will loose business. They have recently extended
upgrade privileges to D7 and D8 users to Feb 28, 2007, but provide
no information on the web site regarding the upcoming version. That is
a sure way to piss people off. Here's this great upgrade opportunity
and then you find out two months later that you just bought a three-year
old product that's totally out of date. Adobe doesn't even list
Director in its drop down menu of products - you have to select More
Products and then go search for it. I guess I will try to contact them
directly as well as see if they have anything useful to say!
The "new Director" release date has been quietly updated to "Second Half of 2007" - sigh.
