At the moment I am making epub 3 with ID CC . It is a picture book with very nice fonts, but whit the epub validator I get this warning:
|WARNING||OEBPS/css/idGeneratedStyles.css||5||2||Font-face reference OEBPS/font/Lexy2000.ttf refers to non-standard font type application/x-font-ttf.|
Does anybody know how to solve this warning? Cause it looks like the font is embedded, the font is included in the OEBPs file.
Does the font permit to embed it?
If the font cannot be used in a epub it will look complete differently. Not every device or every program supports embedded fonts, some support only standard fonts which need not to be embedded.
InDesign embeds TrueType fonts, so it should be OK for your ePub.
The Warning message is right in therms of validation. "TrueType" is no valid ePub font format, so the new ePubcheck 4.0.0 states it as warning and it is right. here again, we see the difference between theory and real world examples. There are discussions to ignore this warning message in future versions of epubcheck.
