I have a custom posed model built in Daz3D that I'm trying to add into my Cinema 4D composition. It is a still object that is used in a fly-through of a scene.
Every tutorial I've found says to either export from Daz as a wavefront (.obj) file or Autodesk FBX (.fbx) file. The FBX importer apparently doesn't work in C4D Lite. So my only option is the .obj file. Unfortunately when I open the file, it doesn't read the .mtl (material) file that gets exported with the wavefront file. I've seen that the plugin Riptide Pro would take care of this, but I can't get plugins to work with C4D Lite either.
Any help would be appreciated.

That would require to know the contents/ data structure of the files as well as the exact export/ import settings, plain and simple. Presumably the path info to the MTL file is not intact or your exported file does not have proper material groups, but I can only help you with this on an abstract level and on the C4D side, since I haven't used DAZ studio in an eternity.
