After you have done editing , it stays within the catalog.
So since you edited smart previews , all the edit information is in the catalog itself.
you can return the catalog to the person and he/she will be able to find the changes and that will be linked automatically.
Somehow what actually you have done here is that you have exported the images to a new catalog , means the link between the images has been lost.
Thanks so much for the quick response. So what you're basically saying is that I would have to give her the catalog that I originally edited the images within? It's just that this catalog is huge and has tons of my personal photos in it, which is why I exported the ones I wanted into a new catalog. So there is no way to export the images with Smart Previews to a separate catalog, that you know of?
I appreciate the help!
but as you said that she sent you the complete catalog with smart previews.
You need to open her catalog and then do edits and just send the catalog back.
you do not have to open your catalog.
I understand that is where things went wrong - editing the images within my personal catalog, rather than the catalog that was sent to me. Since I already completed all of the editing work, I am trying to figure out a solution where I would not need to re-edit the images, though :\
Well the other way is the catalog that you sent to her , you an ask her to locate the images, ask her to click on exclamation mark and replace the images with what is in the local machine.
Other way is :
Download her catalog
Open that, select File -> import from another catalog and then import the files from the edited catalog.
Replace the images with the Edited one make sure you are not changing the location but change the name of images of what it was when she sent to you.
Send her the catalog.
That's a great idea, and I will try that. Thank you very much
