When I'm at work and work with InDesign and usually against a server, this is no problem but when I start InDesign elsewhere without connection to the server and go in and choose archive the program crashes. The little round ball starts to spin, then nothing happens. Every time I have to throw the setting files to InDesign before I start the program. It seems that this problem came when I got a server installed and I work always with the server at work. It's very annoying. Does anyone know why it is like this?
May not work for Package (what I think you mean by archive), but the symptoms you describe are typical of ID trying to access recent files on a network location that is inaccessible. Replacing the prefs removes the open recent list.
Try setting the number of recent files to display to 0 in your prefs, close ID and restart and see if the problem goes away.
Thank you very much, this solved my problem.
