After an evening of searching through Adobe's InDesign community and beyond, I'm no clearer to understanding if this is possible. Among my CSV file is a column called Filename. I am outputting a CSV that has dozens of entries, and since I am manually editing elements in each INDD, I need to create separate merged documents.
My end goal is to have each INDD created match the corresponding filename from the Filename column of the CSV.
This is the source CSV for Data Merge:
This is the document with the first three columns used in context:
My current workflow involves creating a merged document to output a new set of INDD files based on my CSV entries:
I limit the records per document to 1 so a separate INDD is created for each row in my CSV:
And it works! Separate INDD files pop out for each data set in the CSV:
While this is okay for this demo, my real output will be much larger, resulting in many INDD files popping out. So I am left with two, simple questions:
1. Is there any way to automatically name the INDD files that output based on a column from the CSV, such as the Filename column included in my example above?
2. When I'm dealing in volume (dozens and dozens of entries), is there a way to prevent InDesign from opening each and every INDD file that comes out of the Create Merged Document process?
Thanks in advance for any input!

InDesign won't do what you want to do by default. I've written a script that will do this but it is a beta version at the moment. If you want to try it, send me a private message.
