It would be helpful to see the code that defines what p is.
Works fine over here: app.selection.description returns the value of the button's Description field when I select what looks like what you selected. That's in 2014.
TaW, p is the page item.
Peter, I just did your "app.selection.description" and got the same error message but with a number, 11282.
Thanks for taking the time to look.
Thank you for that, very interesting read. I am not sure if I am seeing the same problem with my radio buttons.
Just found this, from Uwe
I think the summary is that there's a bug in cs6 that means you can't do what you want it's the same bug causing the problem in the link I posted.
This was fixed at some point which is why Peter didn't see the problem.
The work around provided in the link won't help at least in terms of the non-boolean values.
In short give up or write a plug-in
Thank you Trevor, plugin it is.
my tests are showing this:
The issues should be fixed in:
InDesign CC v9.3.0
InDesign CC-2014.2 v10.2.0
CC Simple Save Back Service (the IDML related problems)
The problems are not fixed in CS6 v8.1.0.
So, nothing new here regarding InDesign CS6.
