Premiere Elements 13/13.1 (current version) does not offer the DV or HDV capture firewire into the Premiere Elements Capture Window.
Premiere Elements 12/12.1 is the last version to have this feature. You would need to find a vendor that still has it in stock.
What are you using for the analog to digital conversion, Grass Valley ADVC110 with firewire connection (is PC/MAC compatible)?
Does your Mac have a firewire port?
If you can't find PrEl 12 at a vendor, look at $20 DV and HDV for Mac Firewire capture http://www.lifeflix.com/
You do, of course, need to have a Firewire port
As ATR said, use Amazon.com: Grass Valley/Canopus 77010150100 ADVC110 Converter: Computers & Accessories to convert analog to digital
Thank you for all your advice I will follow up. My mac has a " thunderbolt " socket on the back to accept a firewire adaptor. Advised by Apple technical people.
Thanks John I will take up your advice and make further searches I think I am on the right track.
Thanks for the follow up.
As your time permits, please let us know the outcome when doing these captures firewire with the firewire connection which Apple suggested, that is, thunderbolt socket and firewire adapter. It would be interesting to learn of the capture software (Premiere Elements 12 or earlier or other) and its support for that particular Mac connection.
Best wishes moving forward with your video projects.
