Please make sure you are using the latest version of Lightroom.
Lightroom cannot shut down your computer. It must be a Video Driver (or other Hardware)that is crashing your computer.
You could turn off the usage of Graphics Processor from Lightroom
Under Lightroom>>Preferences>>Performance Un-check "Use Graphics Processor "
Restart Lightroom and see if that helps
What do you mean by shut down? Does it crash hard and give you a screen with a message in many languages? Does it just turn itself off?
Yes it crashes hard. It goes to the screen with the languages and then starts back up. It does it multiple times in the span of just a few minutes. It was working good earlier tonight and then all the sudden I can't even do anything in lightroom for it shutting down. Apple says it's a Kernel panic. I have used my computer many hours the past two days- and not used lightroom and it didn't shut down. Then when I opened my lightroom it has now crashed...I lost count. I tried the preference thing as well that you told me and that didn't work. I have also been in touch with Apple and they have tried a few things. I am not paying for this if this is going to keep doing this to my computer.
I seem to be having the same problem. Very frustrating. Is Adobe working on a fix?
These sort of crashing issues if they happen all the time are very probably hardware issues. Likely faulty RAM modules. You should have your Mac's hardware checked. They can do that at an Apple Store for you.
My Dell laptop with Windows-8 would crash to a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death- as it is called) frequently.
I had to uninstall Nvidia graphic card drivers and re-install a fresh download. No crashes now!
And as above- Fauty RAM, CPU overheating, Hard-drive failing, etc.
