I want to know if InDesign can be controled with a Java application?
Provided that InDesign can be control by an external application, and therefore if it is not, if there is an InDesign updated, my application will not work anymore: /
What I want to do is an application that launches InDesign (without opening it on my PC or then let it be in the background in order to do something else at the same time without having to manage the InDesign window) and then load a document (always the same in the same place), and run a single script, and close InDesign.
Please, tell me if InDesign can be external drived without problem, and if my project is workable.
Thank you !
You have just described Indesign Server, that can do exactly what you want. Indesign Desktop, on the other hand, not so much and, as far as I know, the EULA specifically forbids such use.
It really depends on how you use it. Given that the user owns the licence and runs the automation process, EULA is respected. Problem occurs if InDesign desktop is run as server from an external and non licenced user
