    Blank workplace monitor

More trouble: the workspace monitor stays blank when I try to play. If I click it, a still image appears, but "Play" stops. I can scrub and see the image, but cannot "Play." If I try to "Play," it goes blank again.

What version of Premiere Elements? What computer operating system? What video card/graphics card?

What are the properties of what you are trying to preview - brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video would help in that regard?

Is there a red or orange line over the Timeline content that you are trying to preview in the Edit area monitor? Have you tried to Timeline render that Timeline content by pressing the computer keyboard Enter key (or some other means)?

Let us start here and then decide what next. Any questions or need clarification on the above, please ask.

          Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the delay.

If you open a new Premiere Elements 11 project with the same video source, does the problem exist?

              What were your answers for

What are the properties of what you are trying to preview - brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video would help in that regard?

Depending on your answers to the above, we can start out by deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file. In Windows 7 64 bit, it can be found

              Local Disk C

              Users

              Owner

              AppData

              Roaming

              Adobe

              Premiere Elements

              11.0

and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole 11.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that you can see the complete path given above.

The composite of all the answers requested above should give us good troubleshooting direction to the solution.

Any questions or need clarification on any of the above, please do not hesitate to ask.

              Thank you.
