I am very new to InDesign so this question may seem pretty basic. I'm trying to edit another person's book project that they used InDesign to create and I don't know how to edit the title text. I've watched videos and they all explain the body text which I have figured out but The text at the top of the page wil not let me click in and edit it. Help! :-) Ps. I have InDesign CS6.
Short answer: Your text frame may be coming from a master page. Master page items may be locked unless they are overridden. You can override, if it is a master page item, by Cmd+Shift-click (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+click (Windows).
However, you'll have a much easier time learning InDesign if you find some good resources. Relying only on scattered Internet videos will only make you feel frustrated because it's a big and complex program. Here are two good resources:
1. The Visual QuickStart book series by Sandee Cohen. Available for all versions of InDesign, very inexpensive. Here's a link to the latest version:
2. Videos on Lynda.com, especially the InDesign Essentials by David Blatner. First 10 days are free:
This info is amazingly helpful! Thank you so much!!!
