257 pages of text (and photos)... and I'd like to check spelling before printing happens. I find the Check Spelling feature in InDesign to be a bit clumsy. Is there another, better way for me to check spelling, other than, say, copying all my text into a Microsoft Word doc or something like that?
Thanks for any suggestions,
I don't trust any computer spell check. Real people may miss something, but they spot mistakes that the computer won't. The best proofreader will be someone who was not involved in setting the type.
You're absolutely right Peter. I can't afford a proofreader, however, so I'm just wanting to run my text through something that I know will be far from perfect, but, if it catches even one legitimate misspelling, will be of real value to me.
I know I'll cringe if the book gets printed and I see a 'they're' spelt as 'their'—the kind of thing I love to scoff at and fulminate against (and yet, I don't know how or why, it's the kind of mistake I'll still occasionally make when I'm writing quickly; so embarrassing). Just misspelled 'embarrassing', by the way, but spellcheck caught it!
