May i know have you tried to update the graphics drive on your computer.
If in case you are using AMD graphics card on the machine
click on the below mentioned Link to check and download the update for the graphics card.
Lightroom is supposed to create the .lock file when it is open. There is nothing wrong with this.

Thank you, this is an AMD Radeon R9 200 Series card on an Intel i7 processor and autodetect comes back saying I have the current driver.
