Elements is taking too much disk space on the computer with the cache. I have disabled auto-analysis and am trying to clean the cache. How can I do this please?

What program do you have Photoshop Elements 11 with Elements Organizer 11 or Premiere Elements 11 with Elements 11 or both programs?

What computer operating system is involved?

Are you utilizing offline files in the Elements Organizer catalog?

Depending on your answer, it might be to your advantage to take advantage of the specialized expertise at the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum.

            Hello

System Architecture: Intel CPU Family:6 Model:7 Stepping:10 with MMX, SSE

            Integer, SSE FP

            Built-in Memory: 6GB

            Free Memory: 3GB

            Important Drivers / Plug-ins / Libraries:

            Microsoft DirectX Version: 9.0

            Apple QuickTime Version: 7.75

            Adobe Reader Version: Not installed

I am using Elements to just store and view video and pictures. I have a C

drive where the software is installed and the files are stored on D Drive.

See picture below. Also showing that I have turned off the Analysis tool.

As you can see I don't have many programs installed and the C drive is now

105 Gig of data used. How do I remove the cache on elements please?

            Regards,

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure of the Elements Organizer cache to which you refer, but I suspect it is the thumb.5.cache.

              1. In Elements Organizer 11, go to File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager to obtain the name of your current catalog. Once you have that information, then close out of there.

              2. Windows 7 64 bit

              Go to Local Disk C

              Program Data

              Adobe

              Elements Organizer

              Catalogs

In the Catalogs Folder find the folder with the name of your current catalog.

Open your current catalog's Folder to find the thumb.5.cache file, and delete it.

Close out and there and restart the computer. Elements Organizer will automatically regenerate a new thumb.5.cache file.

In order to see the complete path given, be sure to be working with the Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled.

Please let us know if the information about is what you sought.

              Thank you.

                  Thanks for the follow up.

To see the thumb.5.cache file, it is essential that your computer is working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled.

Have you confirmed that you have?

                  Start

In the Search field above Start, type Folder Options. The link for Folder Options should appear at the top of that left hand column. Click on

Folder Option link to bring up the Folder Option dialog.

In the Folder Option dialog, click on the View Tab.

Scroll down the content of the View Tab to find "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives" and make sure that it is enabled.

Please let us know the outcome. Then we will decide what next based on the details in your reply.

                  Thanks.

It is actually where I said it was for my Elements Organizer 11 on Windows 7 64 bit.

Is your computer Windows 7 64 bit as I assumed?

With my Elements Organizer 11 catalog on Windows 7 64 bit, it looks like the following - note the path in the header

                          Local Disk (C:)

                          Catalogs

name of catalog Folder (in this case is "Goes with 11"
