How to reduce File Size when Editing in Photoshop - then back to Lightroom

    shylock1966

I sometimes like  to edit pictures from Lightroom in Photoshop then re-save back again to Lightroom, my pictures are from raw Nikon Nef's and they usually come in at about 24mb and thats ok. The problem is when i edit from LR to PS - Photoshop turns the image into a Tiff file and  i have some pictures at nearly 400mb being imported back to LR,I merge layers and flatten image etc then go to file then save and  i cannot seem to reduce them. Is there an easy way to convert the finished image from a Tiff back to NEF with just a mouse click, many thanks  i am new to this and find the software nice to use any ideas please.
