after updating LR to 2015.2 on a MacBook Pro Retina (15'', Late 2013, Nvidia Graphics) running OS X 10.11 I am unable to close the application. It just shows the spinning beachball. Please advise on possible solutions or whether this a known problem.
I have tried the following steps. None of them mitigated the problem:
- reboot computer
- ran an OS X permission repair
- tried starting LR with an empty catalogue
- ran the Optimise and Backup catalogue option
- tried turn off graphics acceleration in LR
Once again: I am unable to close LR 2015.2 on my machine.
Correction / Additional Observation:
I managed to start LR with an empty catalogue (moved existing catalogue) which made it possible to close the app. Of course I have to use my existing 2015.1 catalogue, any ideas on solving this?
To answer my own question: This appears to be a known issue and can fix fixed following Adobe's steps: Lightroom and El Capitan | Mac OS 10.11
Apparently unchecking the “Show ‘Add Photos’ Screen” option in Preferences was the solution.
