    TOC Book Tooltip

      Hello All,

Using RoboHelp X5 to generate a Web Help file. When the user hovers over a book in the TOC, a tooltip displays, indicating the title of the book.

Is it possible to edit the tooltip text in order to provide the user with something more informative? Would I like the user to see in the tooltip is a brief overview of the chapter's contents. Currently the user sees the overview by clicking the book and having the Overview topic display.

There is no ready-made script available, but it could be done, with a little creativity and some spare time for writing it. Most of us have a lot of the first, not much of the second. Your best bet would be to go to your IT/Web department, outline your idea, and see if they can help.

You may have to make some decisions, such as: must this work across all the major browsers? Are you willing to update two sources for the Overview topics (one for the html page, one for the .js include), or must the script integrate the existing (html) pages? And, isn't this going to make for a huge tooltip?

Once written, you can add the changes to your Webhelp with ReplaceEm, so you don't have to edit the output by hand with every regeneration.
