I am using the Canon 16-35mm F4 IS USM lens on a Canon 5DS. Camera Raw version is 9.2
The lens is recognized in Camera Raw however the distortion correction does not work and actually makes the distortion worse particularly from 24mm to 35mm
I printed a grid on A1 paper and photographed it at 16mm, 20mm, 24mm, 28mm and 35mm. A selection of images are included in this post. The first in each pair of images is straight from the camera, the second (with the suffix 'corrected') as had auto-correction applied.
I shot the same selection of images with the 16-35mm F2.8 which I also have and the distortion correction works fine. I photograph architecture and interiors and bought the F4 because of apparent better sharpness however the distortion correction is such a problem that I'll have to continue using the F2.8
Yes here are the RAW files https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ehq9w6daauiuys5/AABtJSqREkLjw2Ptm0g_2Jhva?dl=0
The subject is an A1 sheet of paper on which I printed a 15mm x 15mm grid. The camera was approximately 30cm away and the focal lengths photographed were 16mm, 20mm, 24mm, 28mm and 35mm. The filename for each file gives the focal length and aperture for each shot.
