If you can wait until November you should see a whole new generation of Skylake processors in Laptops, Some of them will be equipped with or upgradeable to the newest generation of SSD's the gum stick sized M.2 devices. The only way you will be happy with a laptop is forget about any hard disk drives and go the latest M.2 SSD's if you can install one or more. Also Ideally you might want the newer USB 3.1 ports
Complete details are not yet available but for instance ASUS has the announced G752VL family with expansion room for up to 64 GB of RAM and apparently an M.2 PCIe x4 SSD. MSI has some units that look great but require more study
The new Skylake laptops are out. Some have DDR4 and some DDR3. I suggest you look at the DDR4 versions for any 4K work especially if Red is the media. DDR4 is the reason your X99 system is able to handle the playback so well even with the 6 core chip.
