I have created a simple walk animation using illustrator shapes and the Duik plug-in, but when combined with after effects camera tool, any camera close-ups blur all my shapes; even with continuous raster checked; which also breaks my animation. I have tried converting my vectors to shape layers but get the same results.
Is there something I am missing? Do vectors or shape layers not work in 3D camera space or is Duik causing the problem? Should I animate the walk cycle with just after effects puppet tools and scale the pre comp instead of using the camera, or is there some quick fix to make all this work?
Any info or leads would be appreciated. Thanks.
As soon as you apply the puppet pin tool your vector layers are rasterized. If you push in on the animated shape then the layers are going to be pixelated. Simple as that. If you apply puppet pin, precompose, then collapse transformations you'll end up with a mess.
The solution is to scale up the artwork to the necessary size for it's close up first, then apply puppet pin.
Ok, back to key framing then. Thanks for the tip Rick.
